2008 Term 4 Memo
We are now into the busiest time of the school year. In this memo, we provide you with an overview of the activities and examinations in Term 4, to help you in your planning and coaching of your child.

Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) |

The PSLE Listening Comprehension will take place on 12 September. Primary 3 to 5 pupils do not need to come to school as the classrooms will be used for the examination. Only Primary 6 pupils have to be in school that morning. School will function as usual for Primary 1 and 2 pupils in the afternoon. All CCAs and extra classes scheduled for that day will be cancelled. |

Parents of Primary 6 pupils are advised to read the Instruction to Candidates booklets which have been issued to their children. Please do not allow your child to bring mobile phones, MP3, computerized wrist watches or calculators to the examination. Candidates found guilty of improper conduct during the examination will be told to leave the examination room and not be allowed to sit for the subsequent papers. All electronic devices will be confiscated. |

The PSLE Written Examination will take place from 3 to 9 October. Please ensure that your child is punctual for the examination. Below is the detailed timetabled for your reference. We pray that all our pupils will do their best and achieve good results. |

PSLE marking days are from 16 to 21 October. All P1 to P6 pupils need not come to school as teachers are involved in this exercise. |

Primary 4 End-of-Year Examination (SA2) |

The Primary 4 (Semestral Assessment) will be held this term. 60 % of the SA2 examination score including informal assessment will be added to 40% SA1 examination score.

Primary 1, 2, 3 and 5 End-of-Year Examination |

For Primary 1 pupils, 100% of the SA2 score will be taken into account.
For Primary 2, 3 and 5 pupils, 40% of the SA1 score will be added to 60% of the SA2 score (including informal assessment for different levels).

The Lower Primary Sports for Primary 1 & 2 pupils will be held on 29 September, while the Children¡¯s Day celebration will be held on the 30 September. (This arrangement is made in view of the half day for our Muslim staff and pupils on the eve of Hari Raya Puasa on 30 September. School will function as usual on these two days. 1 October is a school holiday. School will resume on Thursday 2 October. |

6 November will be set aside as Reflection Day for our teachers. Pupils do not come to school on that day as teachers will be busy computing SA2 results and evaluating pupils¡¯ performance. |

Examination scripts will be returned on the 5 November. After 7 November, teachers will not be able to make changes to the pupils¡¯ marks as they would have been keyed into the School Cockpit system. |

Exam results for P4 will be released on 29 October and P1, 2, 3 and 5 exam results will be released on 12 November. Please make sufficient photocopies of the results for your own use as report books will have to be returned to the form teachers by 14 November. Your child will receive a booklist for 2009 in mid-November. |

The school will be holding a CCA Open Day for Primary 3 pupils on 2 October, to help them decide on a CCA that they can sign up for 2009. All Primary 4 to 6 pupils are required to have at least one CCA as part of their holistic education in school. Details will be provided nearer the date. |

The Term 4 vacation will begin on 17 November. The following are some important dates for our new intake of pupils and our graduating classes: |

MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (MOE FAS)
Under this scheme, Singapore Citizen pupils would be eligible to apply if the family¡¯s gross income per month does not exceed $1500 for families with one or two children and $ 1800 for families with three or more children. There is also a full waiver of standard miscellaneous fees and 75% waiver of national examination fees.
The FAS is valid up to the end of each calendar year. Pupils who are already on the FAS and wish to remain on the scheme are required to submit a renewal application. New applicants can obtain an application form from the General Office. All application forms have to be submitted with the relevant documents to the general office by 14th November. |

We would like to wish all our Muslim families ¡°Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri¡± (1 ?October), our Hindu families ¡°Happy Deepavali¡± (27 October), and our Christian families ¡°Blessed Christmas¡± (25 December). Finally, we wish each and every one of you a wonderful school vacation and a ¡°Blessed New Year¡± (1 January). School will reopen for the new academic year on Friday, 2 January 2009. |
